For thousands of years, it was associated with the emperor and his descendants, symbolising wisdom, enlightenment, and benevolence. THE DRAGON is also one of the 12 animals featured in the ancient lunar calendar.

Those born under the sign of the lunar dragon in 2024, 2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, and every 12th preceding year, are said to be ambitious, successful, and charismatic. Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver, each coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. THE DRAGON is a creature of exceptional importance in Chinese culture and Eastern mythology. Regarded as a divine, wise, and benevolent being, it is a symbol of power, wealth, and success.

To be born in the Year of the Dragon is considered particularly lucky. Bestowed with instinctive bravery, persistence, and intelligence, dragons are said to be ambitious, charismatic, and natural leaders. Struck in high relief, the coin portrays a serpentine shaped dragon and a flaming pearl, a symbol of wisdom.

REVERSE art includes references to the dragon's control of the elements with stylised waves and water cascading from its mouth. Also incorporated in the design is the Chinese character for'dragon', the inscription'DRAGON 2024', and a'P125' mintmark signifying The Perth Mint's 125. The coins bear The Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty's reign. OBVERSE is the coin's weight, purity, monetary denomination, and year date.
